Our story began over 30 years ago, on a transformative journey through India and Thailand. Captivated by the vibrant cultures, artistry, and warmth of the people, we fell in love with the intricate craftsmanship of handmade paper stars. What started as a small venture selling these colorful stars at German Christmas markets quickly grew. A few years later, we expanded our offerings to include our signature handcrafted fairy lights, adding a new layer of radiance to our collection.
Today, Caracol remains family-owned and operated in Germany by its original founders. While the heart of the brand continues to beat from its roots, the international site is now led by their daughter, who carries on the family’s commitment to artisanal craftsmanship and global connections.

Most of our lamps and fairy lights are handcrafted in small family-run workshops, many of which are located in remote areas of India and Thailand. We’ve fostered long-standing partnerships with these artisans, ensuring that their traditional techniques and artistry are preserved while providing them with a fair and sustainable income.
We maintain close and personal relationships with our manufacturers, regularly visiting their workshops to ensure ethical working conditions and fair practices.
